Ninh Chu Beach

About This Spot

Ninh Chu is a long (~10 km) sandy bay beach about 5 km east of Phan Rang–Thap Cham city and ~15 km southwest of the better-known My Hoa lagoon. It has two distinct wind seasons. The main season is the NE monsoon, roughly November–April (peak Dec–Mar), with N/NNE/NE/ENE winds around 20–30 knots; on a good day it's strong and steady, but because the wind crosses land into the bay it tends to be gusty and side- to side-offshore, so it's noticeably less clean than My Hoa down the coast. A second, weaker season is the SW summer monsoon (May–Aug): thermal sea breezes build midday (~11:00–16:00) to roughly 15–20 knots with only about 50% reliability — fun but not bankable. Typical quiver 7–12 m. Water: the first ~100 m is shallow, calm and beginner-friendly, then it deepens into open, choppy water with small wind kickers — not flat like My Hoa's lagoon, more a chop/light-swell freeride playground. Suits improving beginners on the inside and intermediates who want chop and small waves; the gusty, partly offshore wind and quickly deepening water make solid upwind and self-rescue skills important. Launch & access: wide, open beach with plenty of rigging room and parking; nearest airport is Cam Ranh (~60 km), then taxi/bus to Phan Rang. There are NO kite schools or rental on Ninh Chu itself — for lessons, gear or assistance go to My Hoa lagoon (~15 km). Hazards: gusty offshore-component wind off the land; fishing nets and boats in the bay; swimmers and beachgoers during the May–Aug local tourist season (give them space on launch/land); deep water offshore means no standing rescue. Otherwise crowds are light for kiters.
