Djerba is one of North Africa's most reliable flatwater playgrounds, built around huge, shallow, sandy lagoons. The given coordinates sit at the northern "Smile Beach"/small lagoon near Houmt Souk and the Zone Touristique (10 min from DJE airport); a second, larger lagoon (Souk el Ghebli/Les Dauphins) lies on the SE coast near Aghir (~33.72, 10.95). Both are stand-up shallow, butter-flat up to ~15 kt with only small chop above, no real swell inside — ideal for first lessons and freestyle. Open sea beyond the sandbars offers small waves for advanced riders. Season runs roughly March–November. Best statistical wind is spring (Mar–May) and autumn (Sep–Dec) from N/NNE/NE and E; high summer (Jun–Aug) relies on afternoon thermals that fire almost daily, greatly boosting kitable days but often starting only after midday. Wind averages a modest 12–20 kt and can hit 30; bring big kites (12–17 m) and a lightwind board — many days are underpowered. Direction is generally cross/side-onshore, so safe for self-rescue. Launch is off wide sandy beaches with school cabins for storage/changing; taxis from hotels are cheap (~3 €). Crowds are low. Water is warm (no wetsuit Jun–Sep; shorty or 3/2 Oct–May). Hazards: the lagoons are tidal and partly dry out at low water — scout shallow/muddy spots, shells and the occasional current further out. Summer low water + light wind brings drifting seaweed that tangles lines and kills relaunch. Watch for wooden fishing boats and palm trees on the shore. It's a beginner/intermediate and freestyle destination first; wave seekers will find it limited. Note Tunisia's conservative norms: alcohol only in licensed bars, modest beach etiquette appreciated.
