Resort-style flatwater spot on Oman's Al Batinah coast, on the beach in front of Al Sawadi Beach Resort / Millennium Resort Mussanah, ~70-75 km (50-60 min) NW of Muscat near Barka. This is a beginner-to-intermediate cruising and foiling spot, not a high-wind destination. Wind: predominantly thermal afternoon sea breezes, on- to side-shore (NW/N off the Gulf of Oman), building through the day. Be realistic on strength — the resident school logs typical thermals of roughly 7-14 knots, lighter and less reliable than southern Oman (Masirah/Salalah). The best window is the summer SW-monsoon months (June-September) when the regional pressure gradient adds to the sea breeze and good days can reach the low-to-mid 20s, but it is not the dependable 20-30kt machine some listings claim; expect plenty of light/no-wind days and bring a big kite (12-17 m) or a foil. Shoulder/winter months are mostly too light. Water: shallow sand flats extending 50-200 m out depending on tide, so it's genuinely flat-to-light-chop close in and ideal for learning, water starts and foiling; more open chop and small swell further out. Launch & access: long, wide, mostly sandy beach that runs for kilometres in both directions, easy parking, certified kite school on the resort beach for gear, lessons and rescue. Skill level: best for beginners and improvers; advanced riders will likely find it underpowered. Hazards: the Damaniyat (Daymaniyat) Islands offshore are nine rocky islets ringed by protected coral reef — a no-go marine reserve, stay clear; tides expose/cover the inner flats so mind water depth and incoming current around the As Sawadi peninsula; shared water with swimmers, divers and dive-boat traffic (popular diving departure point); intense summer heat (up to ~40°C, water 24°C+ year-round); respect resort and conservative local dress/conduct norms. Travel verdict: come for an easy resort kite holiday with diving and family options — not for a wind-guaranteed performance trip.
