About This Spot
Mikri Vigla is the premier kiteboarding destination on Naxos, drawing riders from across Europe to its expansive sandy beach. The wide, open shoreline gives you plenty of room to lay out lines and launch, and several established kite schools operate directly on the beach if you're learning or need gear. The summer brings reliably strong meltemi winds, which is exactly what makes this spot work — but the same conditions that deliver world-class sessions can also kick up choppy water on the bigger days. The beach gets busy in peak season, both with kiters and beachgoers, so launch space tighten up in the afternoons when the wind fills in. Off the water, the village has everything you need within walking distance: tavernas, mini-markets, and a range of accommodations from budget rooms to beachfront hotels. It's an easy place to base yourself for a week or longer.
